Thinking about trying Muay Thai or MMA but worried you are not fit enough, experienced enough or confident enough?
You do not need to be.
Our bookable trial sessions are beginner-friendly and suitable for people starting from scratch. We provide free equipment hire for your trial, so you do not need to buy gloves or other kit before you begin.
Core Combat Sports welcomes:
Kids aged 7–10
Juniors aged 11–16
Adult beginners
Women, including those who prefer a ladies-only class
People training for fitness and confidence
Experienced martial artists
Those who may eventually want to compete
We coach a strong team of active fighters, but the gym is not just for fighters. Most people train to get fitter, become stronger, build confidence, learn genuine self-defence skills and become part of a friendly community.
Getting started is straightforward.
Step 1: Book Your Beginner-Friendly Trial
Every session shown as bookable is beginner-friendly. You will not be expected to arrive fit, know any techniques or have previous martial arts experience.
We also offer a bookable ladies-only class for women who would feel more comfortable beginning their training in a women-only environment.
Free equipment hire is included with every trial.
No experience required. Free equipment hire included.
Step 2: Come Down and Get Training
For your trial, wear comfortable sports clothing and bring some water.
Our coaches will explain the session, show you what to do and help you through the class. Nobody expects beginners to know the techniques already — that is what the coaching is for.
You will get the chance to experience:
Professional Muay Thai or MMA coaching
A clean and well-equipped gym
A structured training session
A friendly and supportive atmosphere
Many people feel nervous before walking through the door. Once the session starts, they usually realise there was nothing to worry about.
Step 3: Decide How You Want to Continue
Your trial allows you to experience the coaching, atmosphere and training before deciding what works best for you.
You can continue on a pay-as-you-go basis by turning up to a suitable class and paying for the individual session.
However, the best option for people who want to train consistently and make real progress is to become a member.
Membership gives you unlimited access to the relevant Core classes included in your plan. It makes training better value, helps you build a regular routine and gives you the chance to properly become part of the team.
Find Classes That Fit Your Schedule
Our timetable includes training options for kids, juniors and adults, along with a ladies-only session for women who prefer that environment.
Take a look at the schedule to find the right classes for your age, goals and availability.
